About

Make your wedding an experience like no other!

A mojiganga (pronounced: mo-he-gang-ga) is a giant puppet used as entertainment, sculpture or a grand-scale design element for a large event. These captivating, oversized figures are made of strong paper-mâché called “cartonería” and fabric over a wire frame. Mojigangas were introduced into colonial Mexico by the Spanish in the 1600s and were historically used during religious pilgrimages. Today the larger-than-life figures can be seen as any creation in cultural parades and festivals, such as Día de Muertos, and as brides and grooms in wedding processionals.

Our mojigangas were commissioned in 2020 by artists in Guanajuato, Mexico. Each requires a person to wear the puppet, which are made to sit comfortably on the shoulders. The puppeteer is hidden by the figure's clothes with a hole cut out, allowing the wearer to peer through. The figures weigh approximately 25 pounds.
